I had the opportunity to meet the lovely Jacqui Ross from the Last Chance Animal Rescue to chat about the work the charity does and what YOU can do to get involved.
What is Last Chance Animal Rescue?
LCAR are a registered charity dedicated to rehoming animals in need. Instead of a traditional shelter, Last Chance works to find temporary foster homes for the animals whilst the team work to find a permanent adoption situation. This ensures that all the animals are being properly looked after and in loving homes as soon as they have been rescued.
Over the past 6 years Last Chance have saved and rehomed dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and even chickens!
“The four trustees strongly believe that to home a dog, it needs to be in a home environment. Otherwise, you can’t say whether its housetrained, whether it gets on with kids etc.” – Jacqui Ross
This is the Last Chance philosophy; find the animal a temporary home so that it can start rehabilitation straight away and can always be in a loving environment whilst a ‘forever home’ is being located.
What can you do help?
Last Chance are looking for foster homes. So, if you are living in the area and have space to look after an animal on a temporary basis, please get in touch. Tell them your living situation and they will matchmake you with the animal that best suits you. It couldn’t be simpler for you to make a difference.
