Have you considered buying Costa del Sol Property in Tolox?

If you are looking rustic real estate in Malaga that is close to nature and full of character, then Tolox could be the place for you.

Often described as a charming white village, it is set against the steep hills of the Sierra de las Nieves, overlooking vast swathes of rolling countryside below and impressive mountain peaks above.

Situated close to the incredible mountain range, the village is awash with lovely rural properties with the old Andalusian flair. With a population of just over 2000 people, it has a cozy and friendly atmosphere, a great place to find the perfect rustic property in Spain.

Located at the entrance to the spectacular nature reserve, Tolox is mainly known for its Spa-waters and as a gateway to the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. The Tolox Spa (Fuente Amargosa Health Spa) is fed by the natural water that flows down from the mountains at the rate of 15.000 litres a day. The water gives off a mild gas which is supposed to work wonders for respiratory ailments. It attracts large numbers of pilgrims and visitors each year.

Besides the healing waters, the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, is a must-see for eco-tourists who are interested in the natural landscapes and extensive wildlife. Tolox is also surrounded by avocado farms, fruit orchards and vegetable plots grown in the green and verdant valley hidden between the hills behind the village.

Another attraction in the Sierra de las Nieves national park is the Pozo de la Virgen, a river pool with a waterfall nestling at the heart of the park. Getting there requires a strong pair of hiking boots, but it’s well worth the effort. The pool is lovely, it’s a great place to swim, to have a picnic or to just enjoy the spectacular views.

As expected with such a small town, there are few hotels, restaurants, cafés and other amenities. It is not the place for you if you are looking for tourist shops and souvenirs, there are things to do but on a smaller scale. You will find a tiny but engaging museum, and plenty of local shops and (tapas) bars and a central town square.

However, there are plenty of larger coastal towns within easy travelling distance (around 1-hour’s drive) such as Malaga city and Marbella, which can offer you a taste of city life when you fancy it, including some fantastic museums. Both are famed for their fantastic beaches, glitzy nightlife and high-quality restaurants, if you decide to treat yourself.

It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life where you can really understand the meaning on ‘mañana’. That said, Tolox is just 60km from Malaga’s city centre and the busy international airport, and you can be on the beach in Marbella within 1 hour’s drive.
