La Virgen del Carmen<\/strong><\/p>\n 16th – 17th July<\/em><\/p>\n Patron saint of fisherman and mariners and also known as the Queen of the Seas, La Virgen del Carmen is an event only celebrated on the Costa del Sol. Towns and villages join together to celebrate this religious event, which is centered around the Puerto Ban\u00fas district of Marbella. A large ornate statue of the Virgen is placed on a small boat decorated with flowers and candles and is sailed along the coast. Towns welcome the passing of the Virgin with parties and firework displays.<\/p>\n Feria de Malaga<\/strong><\/p>\n 14th – 22nd August<\/em><\/p>\n Kicking off with a huge firework display on the evening of the 14th<\/sup> of August, the annual Feria de Malaga is one of the biggest events of the community’s calendar. The feria is divides its time between the Feria de D\u00eda (Day Fair) that boasts colourful, traditional Spanish costumes, concerts, authentic music and lots of partying and the Feria de Noche (Night Fair) where the Marques de Larios street is decorated and turned into a bustling fair ground, full of rides and amusements for children, teenagers and adults alike.<\/p>\n Feria de Coin<\/strong><\/p>\n 8th – 15th August<\/em><\/p>\n The town of Co\u00edn celebrates two ferias every year, one in May and the second in the month of August. Just like the Malaga feria, the streets of Co\u00edn are transformed for the day feria with live music, temporary street bars and lots and lots of people. Many youngsters wonder straight from the day to night feria where music tents and fast rides await them.<\/p>\n Feria de Guaro<\/strong><\/p>\n 27th – 30th August<\/em><\/p>\n The feria of Guaro has all the characteristics of the previous two but a much smaller scale. Here, the feria is much more of a family affair, this is one of the main events of Guaro’s calendar and people really dress up to the nines to celebrate this charming weekend of celebrations. For the Luna Mora however, the pretty, white village of Guaro really excels itself.<\/p>\n Luna Mora de Guaro<\/strong><\/p>\n 11th – 20th September<\/em><\/p>\n Lit with over 20,000 candles, this festival celebrating the Arabic occupation of the area is held during the first two weekends of September.
