Welcome to Málaga

Málaga is both the name of a province and its capital

Málaga Inland

This area was once a Moorish area and you can see many examples of the Moorish Culture still alive in the white pueblos. There is a very famous Moorish Festival in Guaro over two weekends at the beginning of September called the Luna Mora. The streets are lined with candles and there are all sorts of artisanal market stalls and attractions. There is also live music in several laces in the village the biggest in the auditorium of the Luna Mora which is the largest open air amphitheatre in Andalucia.

Each of the puebles have their own festivals and parades such as Semana Blanca, Navidad, Three Kings, Romeria and Feria ruta de tapa.

Each Pueblo has its own website - and Facebook page - where you can get more information about events and dates.

Málaga inland is gorgeous

Once you leave the coast you enter in a different world. One of space and calm.

The areas inland between Malaga and Marbella are the Gualdalhorce Valley and the Sierra de las Nieves.

The Guadalhorce river runs through this region. It is sometimes called the citrus valley due to the large areas given to the growing of citrus fruit. They are able to grow these trees in this area due to the abundance of water from the river valley.

The Sierra de las Nieves are the mountain that you can see above Alozaina and Yunquera. In Winter the are snow capped and quite beautiful. You can also see the Sierra Nevada from many places in these areas.

Málaga is Full of Life

But Málaga city is always full of life. This vibrant, beautiful city is always worth the while.

Then there is Ronda, the romantic city in the middle of nowhere, there are the famous coastal towns such as Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and especially Marbella, there are the natural highlights such as El Torcal and the Sierra de las Nieves... resulting in a province of sheer beauty.

Little wonder then that our province is so popular among northern and eastern Europeans who want to live, retire or work here, and look for their ideal home under the sun.
